State of the label 2026 - Tape club
2026 marks 21 years of Lost Sound Tapes and we've come a long way during that time. We've been championing the music sub-underground for over two decades now and we're experimenting moving to a new model for releasing tapes via Patreon as the initial drop.

TAPE CLUB
The tape club membership tier is available now and starts this month!

For $10/month you will receive one new cassette in the mail each month.
We are starting with BLANKET TRUTH "UP 'TIL NOW" which is the band I started in 2005 and the reason that I started Lost Sound Tapes. "Up 'Til Now" is a compilation of most BT recordings that were done prior to the first album "Indoor Camping". It's very lo-fi and on some of these tracks I was experimenting with song writing and home recording for the very first time.
The tape club releases will be available as part of the tape club before they are available to the "general public". If they sell out before they make it to the public, well, that's a possibility!
DIGITAL ARCHIVE
I'm currently working on a digital archive to preserve rare recordings and footage.
You can see what I've already shared here and I will be adding to it regularly.
For $3/month you get access to digital versions of all Lost Sound Tapes releases, video footage from Lost Sound Tapes artists as well as other, related DIY artists from the west coast USA and beyond.
DISCORD SERVER
If you are a member of our Patreon, you now have access to the Lost Sound Tapes discord server! If your Discord account is connected to your Patreon account, you will be automatically added. Otherwise you can send me a message and I will send you a link. Looking for mods and folks who want to be involved with maintaining the Discord. For now, it will be just me working on the Discord infrastructure. Please let me know what you would like to see there :)

*I have a button maker now that makes 2.25" buttons, so expect a lot more of those!
CASSETTE TAPE GRANTS
Send me an email, a very short reason why you want some tapes, and I will send you up to 25 cassette tapes & cases for the cost of shipping!
I came into possession of many hundreds of blank cassette tapes and cases courtesy of K Records when they moved out of their office last year. I want to make sure they get into the hands of folks that will use them as there are more than I need for my purposes.
People are especially excited about physical media right now and I want to do my part to lower the barrier to entry.
There are C-65 and also C-90 tapes, perfect for mixtapes or long albums or a short album on each side (my fave).
UPCOMING RELEASES
In 2026 we will have releases from Blanket Truth, Malasada, The Croutons, and The Chop, as well as a Providence Popfest compilation tape, buttons, stickers, zines, and more!
