PARASOL "Affliction" cassette tape
LST-83 PARASOL “AFFLICTION”
Release date: June 3rd, 2016
Parasol is back with a follow up to their 2014 album “Not There”! The anarcho-pop punk band has expanded from 3 members to 4, now including Josh Hoey who runs the inspiring Reflective Tapes, and they have since relocated from Boston to Olympia. All the members have started new bands since the first Parasol full length including but not limited to G.L.O.S.S. (Jake), Squilll (Lily), and Box Fan (Vicky and Josh). A lot has happened in a couple years.
This time around, the songs are just as emotional & memorable as the first record and are even more dynamic now. Ripping guitar leads abound, soaring vocals hit you in the guts, and there are even a couple longer format tracks mixed in. The anticipation during the slow building of tracks like the title track “Affliction”, which transitions into “Moon Shadows” beautifully, make the songs that much more calculated and intentional. While “Love is a Lie” is a delicate, finger picked acoustic track expressing more nuanced sounds and sentiments.
Edition of 100 white cassette tapes with hand stamped labels and digital download code. Artwork and layout by Meghan Minior.
