TIM THE MUTE "Why Live?" cassette tape
Despite the moniker Tim The Mute, Tim Clapp is likely the most gregarious person in the entire Vancouver, B.C. music scene. He's supports fellow musicians releasing countless albums on his label Kingfisher Bluez as well as hosting shows in venues across the city. It's hard to miss his huge grin and welcoming personality.
Following a string of singles from 2012 through 2015, this is Tim The Mute's first full length album(!) and is a collaboration between Lost Sound Tapes and Tim's Kingfisher Bluez. 10 tracks of hard truths and heavy feelings set to pop music. There's truly nothing quite like it and that is exactly what draws listeners in. Songs about Twilight vampires, face tattoos, death, and life are all equally likely to be heard.
Tim The Mute started as a solo musical endeavour however he has leaned towards a full band approach since 2014. This album features a cast of Vancouver musicians backing the Mute and, on this particular album, Jamie Stewart of Xiu Xiu offered additional beats, sounds, and noises to help texture the songs. Tim and Jamie previously collaborated in 2010 on the album "A Histriony Of Violence" by The Shiny Diamonds.
